HostFix - Repair your Windows Hosts file

The hosts file is used to map internet protocol addresses to domain names. For most people, this is left blank except for a single line that sets "localhost" to 127.0.0.1 - your computer. However, certain viruses and spyware will change the hosts file, and cause your computer to look for "jayloden.com" at "spywarewebsite.com" instead.

HostFix simply backs up your old hosts file and creates a new one with only the default setting of localhost at 127.0.0.1 and thereby removing any malicious entries.

Each time HostFix runs, it will back up your old hosts file to a file called hosts.bak (if there is already a hosts.bak, HostFix will create a new file called hosts.randomnumber.bak instead). Then HostFix creates a new, clean hosts file and exits.
